BELIEVABLE CHARACTERS Creating with Enneagrams by Laurie Schnebly

From my previous posts, you can tell that 2009 was the year of quest for me. I took numerous classes. Read a stack of ‘How-to’ books…and tried to practice what I’ve learned.

One point is that character comes first…if you’re writing romance. I am bad about having a ‘plot’ and skipping the whole internal conflict issue. And I probably need my head examined for admitting any weakness on a public blog…

But one of the first things I do when planning a book is turn to my CRUTCH. My best friend. A book I KNOW I can count on...

NAME OF BOOK:BELIEVABLE CHARACTERS Creating with Enneagrams by Laurie Schnebly

WHY I READ THIS BOOK: Because I’d participated in a discussion Laurie led at e-harlequin and I wanted to know more.

LEARNED: Characters need believable reasons to do what they do.
WAS IT HELPFUL: [1] Routine [5] Ah ha Moment
BELIEVABLE CHARACTERS rates a 5++

COLOR CODING: [a different color each time I’ve read]
[1 color] a New Book [5 colors] Trying to master

The pages in BELIEVABLE CHARACTERS look like an Easter Egg so that means another 5.

TAKE AWAY: Don’t let this book out of your sight. Make your characters real.

Have you read this book?
What was your response?

I haven't read this book in particular, but I have read a book about Enneagrams by Richard Rohr. I use the basic information when I create my characters. I'll definitely have to look at this book. Thanks for posting about it!
